Cat Grooming Interval

How often your cat needs to be groomed needs to take into account a few different factors.  The breed, age, weight, and health.  Whether your cat is indoors or outdoors, and probably the most important factor, what grooming are you doing at home to assist them with their coat.  If mats are forming before your next appointment, you need to think about coming sooner between appointments.

  • Persian/British Long Hair/Scottish Fold - Every 6 to 8 weeks (Dilute coats blue/cream/strawberry blonde/sand are more mat prone to their counterparts black, white and ginger)
  • Ragdolls/Maine Coon/Norwegian Forest Cats/Siberian - Every 8 to 12 weeks
  • British Short Hair - Every 12 to 16 weeks
  • Domestic Long Hair - 8 to 12 weeks (If they are a mix of any of the above breeds, they will need to come sooner)
  • Domestic Short Hair - Twice a year (Spring shedding season March/April/May - Autumn when they shed again, going into their winter coats October/November)

These are the suggested minimum times between grooming; however, you can bring your cat in earlier if you notice that their coat is less clean or that it is matting more quickly.

The CO2 treatment has the ability to remove mineral waste from clogged pores, which causes odor, while preserving the natural moisture levels in your cat’s skin. It helps cats with skin problems such as eczema, hot spots, flea bites, flaky skin, an oily coat, itchiness, etc. More about Nagayu can be found on the menu.

1st Place Winner of Cat Grooming Competition

My Lion-Cut Groom

In this video, you can see my techniques for performing the Lion Clip Groom. I have participated in competition where I have tested my grooming methods and strategies against other cat groomers from throughout the nation.

As part of my duties, I had to demonstrate my methods for cutting nails, bathing, drying, combing/brushing, scissoring, thinning/thinning, and cleaning ears and eyes, among other things. I also had to meet the requirements of the animal welfare laws and concerns.

So you can be asured your cat is in the best hands with me :)

Competition Details

  • The competition was sponsored by Absolutely Animals - London.
  • There were two professional judges.
  • Organized by Heidi Anderton Lcgi Icmg.

De-Shedding process - Maintenance Grooming

In this video, you can see how maintenance cat grooming looks and what is included.

Dealing With Spicey Cat

Grooming cats is a difficult task. And Thor just demonstrated why. However, I have a lot of patience because I studied to become a kindergarten teacher in high school. I suppose these benefits were further enhanced by my nine years of handball play. Since I react really quickly :)
Thor seems quite irate early on, as seen in the video. He was hissing and showed symptoms of potential agression. For this reason, I always wear protective gloves from BiteBuster.

He wears a "bubble muzzle" as protection, allowing him to see and breathe but keeping him from biting me.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, we offer medicated baths and treatments for pets with skin conditions. Please let us know if your pet has any special needs when booking an appointment.

Yes, I work with a couple spicy-natured cats. I know a few tactics that let me finish grooming safely while also calming cat down. Veterinarians can prescribe tranquil medications to cats who exhibit extreme aggression and refuse to allow other people to handle them. With these medications, the cat won't sleep; instead,it will be less alert and reactive, making it easier to handle.

Yes, every cat needs a bath every now and then. A thorough wash might be the only way to get rid of the gunk, even if your cat undoubtedly thinks of themselves as more than capable groomers. Debris like mud, sap, and excess filth can be quite tough for a cat to remove from their own coat.

Not at all! Do not attempt to remove the mats yourself in an attempt to salvage the coat. Certain mats are extremely close to the skin, so you run the risk of injuring your cat if you try to remove them with scissors. Make an appointment as soon as you notice new mats, so they don't get bigger and denser. With tools made specifically for this purpose, some mats can be brushed out or alternatively, clipped out safely.

Yes, please text me at 07915491360 if you just need your cat's nails clipped. I might be able to see you that same day as well.

Cats frequently let others groom them while refusing to let their owners do it. While some cats will not allow their owners to trim their nails, they are quite peaceful in salon environments. A bath may have the same effect. When I first begin working with a cat, I will watch its behavior to see whether or not giving it a bath is a good idea. I am aware that bathing the cat won't be simple if it is extremely afraid or aggressive. Hovewer, I'll attempt it if I have to.

Our basic bath includes a bath with shampoo and conditioner, towel and blow dry, brush out, ear cleaning and nail trimming.
